Elder Law

Protecting your wishes, assets, and welfare even after you can’t make decisions

Elder law is designed to protect elderly people’s rights, assets, and welfare – and that’s our job too.

You see, at Schnauer and Co, we believe that it’s far better to make decisions while you can, about who will make decisions for you when you can’t. The certainty that comes from establishing your wishes legally provides comfort and ease while ensuring that you’ll be taken care of even as you’re faced with declining physical and mental health.

When an elderly person doesn’t have an enduring power of attorney (EPA) and is no longer able to make decisions on their own, a protection of personal and property rights (PPPR) enables you to put welfare guardians and property managers in place. However, this may have to include going to court and can be a time-consuming, costly, and stressful process.

Our priority is ensuring that each individual is clear on what their wishes are. We’ll explain – in plain English – your rights and those of your family, working alongside both you and your loved ones to ensure that you’re protected each step of the way.
